The guys from Lutes & Liars and I just finished a very special project: The album cover for their debut release, By Land Or By Sea. All-in-all it was a pretty marvelous project. Many collaborated to produce a CD cover, a custom-lettered logotype, a homepage and some other handsomely-designed promo pieces. We even spent a little bit of time devising a small-scale promotion strategy. Launch Lutesandliars.com
Somewhat recently, I went on a sketch rampage. You should have a look at them. Also, you should be the first person to make a comment ... That would be terribly cool of you.
Krismorgan.com refabbed
Since it's been awhile and my portfolio was more outdated than not, I decided to redesign my site. My first order of business was to archive all of the college work I've been displaying forever. Next, I decided I would limit myself to showing work from no more than two years ago. So you won't see anything before 2009. Seriously.
For those of you that haven't yet heard of Lutes & Liars, I'd strongly suggest hopping over to their new site, which I just launched. You'll be able to stream three boss-awesome tracks as a part of their album pre-release promotion, which I got to help design, plan and execute.
Make sure to pass on the word — their new album By Land or By Sea will be available for physical and digital purchase on June 12.
Spoiler alert: It's really, really good.
I decapitated a piñata.
Now more than ever I am reminded of the fragility of life.
Every once in awhile I find myself creating custom lettering for something. Rather than keep them tucked away in the deep recesses of my hard drive, I figured I'd let a few of them see the light of day.
Lutes & Liars Script Logotype
When we started the By Land Or By Sea project I had the idea to stylize their name in an interesting way. After many iterations, this script-lettered logo emerged.
Cosmic Order
Astronomicool is a word I made up. Cosmic Order is a styled character set that kept appearing when I would draw outerspace things.

This a good one for retro luggage labels.

At my day job I'm a web designer, and most of the work I do is for nonprofit, humanitarian organizations.

San Diego Rescue Mission/Spec Homepage Design
This was a homepage concept we pitched to SDRM in response to an RFP. This design was never implemented.

Though I work mostly in the digital space professionally, I have a background in fine art. Most of my illustrations start in some form of physical media, perhaps pen or pencil, even if they end up in a digital format.
